Dec 06, 2018 Parkitect review - the finest theme park sim for years. Planet Coaster, a spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, some of that early magic has. Since Planet coaster’s campaign left me bored of challenge and goals, and @Telefrog said RCTW was basically much more hopeless than PC, I asked the developers of Parkitect if their game would focus more on the park management, financial simulation, and realism vs. Planet Coaster. Ie there’s quite a void they can fill if they can make it match RCT 1 and 2.
Here is finally the time to compare RollerCoaster Tycoon World and Planet Coaster to know the end of the story.
RollerCoaster Tycoon World
It seems to me that Frontier Developments was right not to pursue the adventure (yes it was them who did not want). The RollerCoaster Tycoon saga has really run out of steam … Would it have been too long left on the sidelines? Be careful, I do not say that this game is a shit but very disappointing compared to the expectation of the fans of RCT 3. It is not up to our patience (I remember that it has been more than 10 years that we wait for).
The positives are that there is an extraordinary variety of scenarios, scenery, rides, roller coasters, shops … And frankly what a pleasure! But the interface of campaign mode reminds me too much of Pet Rescue Saga, shame … And the graphics are closer to cartoon than animation. The game puts 3 pellets to load (well you’ll see that on the video it was a good day) and what to say when you load a park (be careful you may fall asleep). Your turn to judge :

Planet Coaster
I think we all agree that ouf! We hold a worthy successor of RCT 3. At the same time, it was them who had developed the game so they knew how to do and well taken into account the desire of the fans. On the other hand, I criticize the lack of « basic » rides. But I think that will come as the regular updates. For example, we can find 2 in the winter update where you will have the pleasure of being able to build an amusement park dedicated to the Christmas period and 3 new scenarios in career mode. It’s pretty cool. The game is fast enough to load, just like the parks. But that does not prevent crashes and bugs:
Conclusion
You will have understood that I preach more in favor of Planet Coaster than of RollerCoaster Tycoon World. The final PC is much more complete than RCTW. And you, what’s your fav?

RollerCoaster Tycoon World is a game that is considered a massive failure by the majority of the community. It is lacking many features that where promised by Atari but were never delivered with the game; transport rides, path tunnelling, movable entrances and exits of rides, recolourable rides, correct ride animations, and lots more.
Furthermore, Atari has ended development of RCTW. They haven’t admitted so, but it’s clear that they have based on the signs surrounding the game.Planet Coaster on the other hand is still receiving regular updates with both free and paid content and new features. Prefer Planet Coaster.Planet Coaster has better graphics, more awesome rides and scenery, UI is very user friendly, the peeps in the game are detailed and better. Downsides with the game is it has no swimming pools, no water slides, and larger parks struggle to run even on high end gaming PC's.I did look up Roller Coaster Tycoon world. It failed several ratings.
Eurogamer 'avoid' another rater rated it in it's 40's/100. This game is cheaper NZ$14.99 than PC (NZ$49). It does have some good graphics but the people don't look as good as PC. And PC has better AI (peeps) too. This game could be a substitute for PC especially for people on a strict budget. Graphics look ok but does it have as good mechanics, UI, and ease of building, as PC has? There is a main reason why it's cheaper than PC.
It means a less quality game. It's not just me who wants it. Silverett, lady designer, keralis, and many others like the idea of it. Although some types of people who contribute on this forum, which is only a small fraction of the total people who play the game. May not want it.
But don't underestimate the number of people who want it. happyOtherwise, I'm fine with Planet Coaster and how it is (besides the lag if you go cra cra if you want to run a bigger park).
But I'm really keen for swimming pools and water slides. Maybe they'll release a specific new game which focuses more on that. Rather than playing RCT3 which is what over a decade old.

I'd say Parkitect is the underdog that may very well end on top, after all.RCT World was undeniably dead on arrival, and Planet Coaster seems to have entered a kind of limbo where the game is still being plastered with scenery packs and half-arsed, shallow new features - but the game isn't really evolving anymore.
Parkitect on the other hand is still in active development and is currently making big leaps since they are approaching a proper 1.0 release. It has the visual charm and simplicity of RollerCoaster Tycoon but with actual innovating features and a meaningful simulation. They way Parkitect guest are aware of sight-lines and rain protection really puts PlanCo's guest brain and its silly arbitrary numbers to shame. Thank you all for your replies, much appreciatedI had checked some of the comments on the Roller Coaster Tycoon World forum the other day and saw the negative comments in there, wowWhat do you think went wrong with that game? You would have thought they would have tried to compete with Planet Coaster on a higher level. When I played it on first beta release, I got bored quickly and forgot about it, so thought by now it would have improved. This baffles meThe only thing I think RC T W has over planet coaster is the inclusion of custom models and scenery, with out having to use the in game pieces.
